Ferris & Salter, P.C., practices in all state and federal courts of Michigan, equipped to defend against any allegations:

Penalties for conviction vary according to the type of drug and the amount. Mr. Ferris is familiar with the Michigan drug laws and likely outcomes for all controlled substances, including marijuana, cocaine, crack, ecstasy, crystal meth, heroin, and prescription narcotics such as Oxycontin. Conviction of federal charges can include life imprisonment, and conviction of state charges carries penalties of up to 20 years. Because of mandatory sentencing for conviction, many felony drug charges will result in some prison time.

Aggressive Defense and Skilled Plea Bargaining

Mr. Ferris understands what is at stake, and aggressively challenges the charges. He examines police reports for evidence of illegal searches and seizures or other violations of his clients’ rights. A veteran of many criminal trials, he is excellent at gaining acquittals. However, clients are fully advised of the risks of trial versus the consequences of negotiating a plea to lesser charges.

Motions for Diversion

Clients charged with possession of drugs may qualify for 7411 diversion in state court. If the defendant completes the program (drug dependency treatment, no further arrests), the case is dismissed and the conviction stays off one’s record. Mr. Ferris can advise on your eligibility for 7411.
