Choosing the Right Attorney

When you or a loved one has been injured and require the assistance of an attorney to help secure compensation for your losses, you want a personal injury attorney you can trust.

Searching for the right lawyer can be intimidating, especially when there are hundreds of lawyers available in your area. We believe that when you research the Internet for a lawyer, you are comparing the results and using the information found to aid in your decision. You want to be certain that the attorney you select has the appropriate experience, service mentality, and other important qualities. However, online attorney advertising can be deceiving.

Internet Searches for a Lawyer

Google and other Internet search engines are very intuitive to the material contained in each Web page. Certain words must be on the page in order for Google to return a search result that lists that specific Web page. Among many other factors, the number of times and placement of certain words on the page will help determine where a Web page is ranked in search results.

How Some Attorneys Advertise for Google

Some lawyers attempt to boost their rankings on Internet search results by stuffing as many keywords into their Web sites as possible, even if the keywords are for legal services that the law firm does not offer. We have personally come across Web sites for Michigan lawyers who are advertising for legal issues which they do not handle - rather, they refer these cases to other lawyers.

While Internet search engines are advancing in their effectiveness for providing relevant search results, their algorithms can only provide results based upon what is available on the Internet. Ranking high on an Internet search result is therefore not akin to having the most experience or the highest quality of service.

How You Can Obtain the Right Kind of Representation

The Internet is only intended to aid in your quest for a lawyer. The only way to truly ensure that the attorney you are considering hiring is right for you is by talking to them during an initial consultation. In cases involving personal injury or wrongful death, all attorneys are required to offer a free initial consultation.

At Ferris & Salter, P.C., our Web site is designed to give people answers to their questions. We offer assurance that every legal issue mentioned on our Web site is an area we have personally handled and an area in which we continue to excel. You may explore our Web site for answers to your questions, to learn about the services we provide, and to determine if you would like to consult with us about your situation.
